The Project
NZ Post Group consisted of four subsidiary companies each with its own governing structure and safety management systems. NZ Post Group required one health and safety framework and management system providing consistency across the Group that supported the company’s direction and future changes.
The Optimation
After a gap analysis of health and safety management across the entire Post Group, Optime produced a detailed report highlighting H&S gaps and recommendations for the future. We then developed an international best practice H&S framework and management system that would fit Post Group, allowing for individuality and ownership within each group. This was a set of Group Standards, frameworks and processes of best practice that aligned with international organisations of similar structure and size. Optime worked with the Safety teams to implement the safety systems and foster a new approach to managing safety. We also supported the Group Board with resourcing and structuring the Group Safety Team to create a different culture of H&S throughout the organisation.
Success
The Optime Way brought four different health and safety systems together to create one system that everyone could work to as a team. By supporting and focusing on high-risk areas of operation we had a positive impact on safety performance data. Establishing a governance structure for health and safety meant we also achieved a positive change in consultation and communication.
